“The Gospel of Jesus Christ
is a message of victory.”
The word gospel simply means “good news.” Surely, there are other gospels found in different religions and each one of them conveys different kinds of good news. The Christian gospel is not like any other, for it is the only good news that can save. It proclaims a message of ultimate good news because of who it is about and what it provides. The true gospel is about the person and work of Jesus Christ the Son of God and about sinful mankind and their need for a savior. This simple message of who Jesus is, and what He has done to redeem sinners from their sins, is the very power of God unto our salvation.
(Mark 8:35; Romans 1:16)
“God is holy,
we are not.”
God is the holy Creator of all things and in His likeness, He made mankind, who in Adam, rebelled in sin and is now under the wrath of God. God is worthy of our love, devotion, obedience, and worship. Instead, man hates God and turns to sin and loves himself. Because of man’s inherited sin nature from his forefather Adam, he genuinely desires and seeks evil. The sinner is now dead in their trespasses, slaves to sin, and in desperate need of a savior. (Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 3:1-13; Romans 5:12; 1 Corinthians 15:22; Romans 1:18-32; Romans 2:6-11; Romans 3:9-18; 2 Timothy 3:1-5; Romans 6:16; Ephesians 2:1-3)
“Just as Adam Represented us in the garden of Eden,
Jesus Christ represented us on the Cross of Calvary.”
God the Son, Jesus Christ, set aside His glory and throne in heaven to take on human flesh. He lived a perfect life in full obedience to the Law of God, and He willingly died on the cross to satisfy the wrath of God that was due to sinners. He was buried, He rose from the dead, He ascended into heaven, and now sits at the right hand of God the Father. He will come back to condemn the unbelieving to eternal hell and reward the faithful to eternal life.
(Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38; Luke 2:8-21; John 1:1-18; Philippians 2:4-11; Colossians 1:15-23; Galatians 4:4-5; Acts 2:22-38; Matthew 27:45-66; Mark 15:21-47; Luke 23:26-56; John 19:16-42; Matthew 28:1-20; Mark 16:1-8; Luke 24:1-53; John 20:1-31; 2 Timothy 4:1; Acts 10:34-43; Matthew 25:31-46; Revelation 20:11-15)
“We are saved by Grace alone,
through faith alone,
in Christ alone,
for the glory of God alone.”
The sinner presented with this gospel of Jesus Christ can either accept it in faith or reject it and die in their sins. The good news that the Gospel communicates is that Jesus Christ is victorious over sin, death, and all cosmic powers and authorities. He is the King and the Lord over all and is coming back as the Judge over all the living and the dead. All will have to stand before Him and give an account for their sins. Those who repent of their sins and call out to Him by faith for His grace will receive the mercy of God, the forgiveness of sins, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and will be granted everlasting life and safe passage into His kingdom. Disciples of Jesus Christ are received and welcomed as adopted sons and daughters into God’s glorious presence to live with Him forever.
(John 5:24-29; John 6:35-40,51, Ephesians 1:3-14; Ephesians 2:1-10; Titus 2:11-14; Romans 3:21-26; Romans 5:2,6-10; Romans 8:1,9-11,22-25,28-39)
